General Manager

The General Manager is an extremely important new role for MMX.  In summary, the GM will lead, manage, strategize, direct, report on, and monitor all aspects of MMX and its operations. 

The general manager will oversee all operations, working closely with Jeff, the owner of MMX, Omri, Head of Curriculum and Development, and Tyler, Community Manager, as well as the Core Team to learn all aspects of the business.

Applicants should be an experienced, motivated, and organized individual with management and leadership skills,available to join our team in a full-time management capacity.


Responsibilities will include daily operations, team management, strategy, programming, regulations, sales & marketing, and expansion into other markets.

About MMX: Founded in 2010, MMX has 13 years of experience with over 13,000 members through its doors over the years. We are a niche, thriving members-only wellness club serving a community of 6,000+ members, mostly gay/queer men. We provide a variety of services including private bodywork, group classes & workshops, yoga, space rentals, retreats, online services, and community events in NYC, Fire Island, and other satellite locations.

The GM will work on expansion, leading MMX into the next decade, and evolving its business model for reaching new markets.

Salary range is $65-80k, depending on background and experience.

No health benefits at this time.

This is a full-time position with regular weekly hours and some weekends.
It may require travel and offsite locations for periods of time.

In addition to salary, there will be an outline for future ownership/equity options after a year with the Company. 

Specific responsibilities include:

Management & Strategy: Oversee all 5 business units (Privates, Group Classes and Events, Rentals, Memberships, Retreats / Offsites); Daily communication with team, clients, and others; Planning, reviewing, and resolving issues; Overseeing Daily operations.  Planning and running team meetings; Identifying & responding to team needs; Reviewing business trends, goals, and mission. 

As the lead, and a role model to everyone, The GM will continue to build and maintain a strong team. The GM empowers and inspires the team and is a visible presence to other team members, clients, and partners.  The GM sets the tone for the community and the online and offline space.

Staffing

Creating Staffing Plan; Nurturing workplace culture & team morale;

Source, hire, train and schedule new team members including consistent follow-ups and job performance reviews, guaranteeing all team members are meeting expectations and not only held to tasks but are recognized for their great work.

Finances:  Monthly and Quarterly Reporting of Business; Tracking profits and losses; Identifying opportunities for revenue growth; Enhancing existing revenue streams; Monitor spending and areas to cut costs.  Review with owner on a regular basis. Generate reports providing feedback and clear actionable information. Manage inventory and resources.

Expansion: Nurturing existing relationships & seek out new business; Overseeing expansion of business to new spaces and markets. 

Manager is expected to assist/source resources in new and exciting ways to refresh our brand, offerings, and create new experiences. The GM will also work with our leadership team to develop strategies and updates to new and existing workshops/events with the goal of expanding our offerings for the needs of our community as well as increased sales and client engagement.

Operations: Overseeing booking & programming processes; Coordinating bookings, rentals, and events; Overseeing maintenance of physical studio space & supplies; Coordinating communications through newsletters, social media, etc.

The Manager works splitting their time both on scene and behind the scenes, nurturing relationships and keeping things running smoothly.

Marketing & Partnerships/Collaborations:

Develop marketing strategies and source human resources to execute marketing plans.

Regulatory / HR:
Responsible for maintaining all licenses, vendor contracts, and guaranteeing we are up to date with local laws and regulations.  Research and execute a benefit plan for employees.

Summary of GM Role:

  • The Studio General Manager will be responsible for managing all activities of the operation. They will help ensure the smooth and efficient operational procedures within all areas – online and offline.
  • Our ideal candidate is highly organized, is a quick learner, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and is able to uphold all MMX standards.
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for the MMX culture and brand.
  • They will be interpersonally savvy with a strong business acumen and have the ability to creatively problem solve and handle all situations that arise.
  • They will have strong customer service skills and interpersonal/communication skills, including written communication.
  • Must be proficient in MAC systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have proven leadership ability in an educational, fitness or related professional setting with 2-5 years of management experience in a customer service business.

Fire Island Community Manager (Summer 2024)

Position Summary

The FIP Community Manager will serve as a manager, host, marketer, event organizer/planner. They need to be extremely organized, friendly, outgoing, master of many things, and enjoys being busy.  


Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and performing day to day operations of the house and treatment areas, including proper daily set up, house tidying, food/beverage, laundry, supplies. 
    • Managing all operating inventories of the property.
  • Appointment management
  • Client/Guest services- tending to guest/client needs. 
    • Ensure all guests needs are met and exceeded. 
    • Assist with coordinating, scheduling, and communicating internally and externally the guest needs. 
    • Greet, guide and direct guests and groups upon arrival and throughout their visit.
  • Promote and Market Offerings and Events of the day. 

You will work with management in the Spring on structuring the operation and planning the calendar for events, activities, services, hiring and partner events.


Other Functional Requirements:

  • Approach all team members in a friendly, professional, yet casual service-oriented manner.
  • Oversee scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the operation.

Studio Attendant FILLED
Immediate start for a temp position (9/15 to 10/30) or Temp to Perm.

The Studio Attendant plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall ambiance of the studio. This position involves various tasks including laundry management, light cleaning, stocking and inventory, and sprucing up the studio space to ensure a welcoming and comfortable environment for clients, staff, and members. 
You will report to Tyler, the MMX Community manager and the MMX Core Team.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laundry Management:

    • Collect, sort, and wash towels, linens, and other fabric items used in the studio.

    • Ensure that all laundered items are properly folded, organized, and ready for use.

    • Monitor inventory levels of linens and towels and communicate restocking needs.

  • Cleaning and Sanitization:

    • Perform routine cleaning tasks to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the studio, including sweeping, and disinfecting surfaces.

    • Empty trash bins and replace liners as needed.

  • Studio Organization:

    • Arrange and organize props, equipment, and supplies in an orderly manner to create a clutter-free and inviting studio environment.

    • Ensure that studio rooms are set up appropriately for scheduled classes, workshops, and sessions.

  • Sprucing Up:

    • Pay attention to small details such as lighting, decor, and aesthetics to create a visually appealing and calming atmosphere.

    • Maintain plants and decorative elements, ensuring they are well-maintained and properly watered.

    • Maintaining a continuous supply of “treats”, and toiletries necessary for mass use.

  • Inventory Management:

    • Keep track of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other consumables, and notify management when restocking is needed.

    • Assist in receiving and organizing incoming shipments of supplies.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Communicate with the management about any maintenance or repair needs within the studio space.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a neat and organized workspace.

  • Excellent interpersonal and service skills.

  • Physical ability to perform cleaning and lifting tasks as required.

Terms:

    YOGA TEACHER - FILLED

    Looking to bring on selective persons to teach Yoga at MMX.  Schedule is flexible depending on needs. 

    We offer restorative yoga but also mash-ups and hybrids which incorporate fun twists on classic yoga.

MMX produces theme events and special immersions that combine holiday vibes with fantasy/role play and touch to create unique experiences.  We are seeking a creative, experienced talented individual to produce our upcoming Halloween 2023 Experience and for future immersive experiences.

The person will work with Jeff in every aspect of event creation, production, and execution.

Contribute to Expanding Event Idea and Bringing it to Life. Paying attention to every detail to ensure flawless execution of the Halloween Immersive Event.

Collaborate on detailed flow and story in each experience room.
Develop story line, intention, activity, and expand on room them.
Experience room build out and execution.
Work with “cast” to run experience rooms.
Develop timing of rooms.
Lighting / Décor / Costumes.

Develop a calendar of deliverables, schedule for the run of show, any rehearsals, time for supplies needed.

Maintain and update shared event planner.

Develop, Control and stay on Budget.

Coordinate load in with studio manager. Coordinate set build.

Work on hiring ‘cast’, volunteers, set and lighting, and fill all roles.

Collaborate with Co on marketing / ticket sales / social media / sales of event.

Workshop Leader - Facilitator

Specialty Skills like BDSM / Pain-Pleasure. Unique Modalities Spiritual Music - Sound Bowls / Gongs / etc We are looking for a vibrant, responsible, and knowledgeable person to join the MMX teaching staff. In this key staff position, you will facilitate 1-2 classes each week, with a regular weekly schedule. The teaching focus is on massage, touch, and related workshop series. Our classes are participatory and experiential, with 6-18 students, usually 2-3 hours in length.

The right candidate will bring a range of training and experience, including massage skills, teaching skills, and ease in facilitating groups.

Familiarity with more than one massage modality is preferred (Swedish, Deep Tissue, Thai, Lomi Lomi, etc.).

Knowledge of some massage-adjacent disciplines is ideal (Yoga, Erotic Arts, Wheel of Consent, Movement, Anatomy, Meditation, Energy Work, Breath Work).

A background/interest in personal development courses is helpful (e.g. Body Electric, Mankind Project, etc.).

MMX facilitators must be able to command a room and hold space. They are friendly and welcoming, always putting our members at ease. They are knowledgeable, relaying information in a clear & accessible way, and are professional in their conduct. They are outgoing and community-oriented, with a strong desire to help others. Interior Design - Treatment Space - 2B Studios 4F (Opportunistic)

In late 2019, we completed a renovation and expanded into the adjacent space.  This area is primarily for private treatments with a lobby area, and 5 sizable treatment rooms. 

While clean and lovely, the space needs that MMX branding, with a combination of spiritual and sexy, and uber comfortable seating and spa-like feel. 

We are looking to update, furnish, and re-design this space in early 2024
